How To Send A Fax Online

If you are like many people you don’t have a home phone service anymore. You use cell phones and have broadband cable. This usually works well for you unless you have to send a fax to someone one day. Then you have the option of finding a friend with a fax machine or going to the local library and having them send a fax for a free. Most of the time you don’t have to fax paperwork, but every now and then you come across something that you simply must fax. When you do come across that form that you have to fax there are some options for you where you can fax by the internet. Yes you can fax from the internet.

Most of the time it's really easy to send a fax online, once you have the document on your computer most of the websites will have a "upload file" that you click on then it will upload the file and send it off for you. You specify the number that you want it to go or the email address and the online program will do the rest for you. You can send the same fax to several different people at once with limited amount of clicks.

You can send faxes from the internet for free with some sites. There are also sites that will send the faxes to your inbox of your email. You can even receive faxes online. So really what are your options when faxing online?

There are several online fax service that you can use, most of the time they will offer you free trial periods that you can test their services. Here you can fax by Internet, and receive email faxes from them. Then once you get the fax in your email you can then print it off for your printed record copy.

With the Internet fax programs you can send the same fax to several people at once. Even if the recipients don’t have a fax machine of their own they can still get a fax online in their email. They will then have the choice of printing the fax from their email or just reading it.

If you are expecting to receive a fax from on online fax program you can get it anywhere that you can get internet access. Even on some cell phones you will be able to read the fax. You no longer have to wait by the fax machine to get the fax.

If you need a fax service – and send your faxes for your business, then you may come out cheaper by using the Internet Fax service instead of getting a traditional land line. Most fax services online charge between $5-$20 a month for their online fax services, you usually cannot get a phone line for that price. Plus you have more options when using a fax service online.

As you see if you don’t want to spend the extra money to get an extra phone line you do have options. One last option is using your VOIP phone, or your Internet phone. If you have Magic Jack, or Vonage you still should be able to send faxes with these phone lines. Internet phone faxes do have some different options that you have to set on your fax machine to get it to work properly. If you have Vonage, they have a page on their website that explains how to do it, or you can call tech support and they will walk you through it. Even if you have other phone services with the Internet phone, their tips will help you send and receive faxes.  If you have Vonage – they will try to upgrade you to a fax line.  I have done tech support for Vonage, and you don’t need to add that additional line, you can use the phone line to send faxes – now you may want a dedicated fax line if you send a lot of faxes, but if you only send a few, don’t waste your money on that fax line.

The one last option that you have is to bypass faxing all together. If you have a scanner, you may be able to scan the document, and email it to the person. Most businesses will accept them that way, always ask if you don’t have access to a fax machine. While this may work for some, you still have options for online fax services.

There are some sites that will let you fax for free online. The only problem with these services is that they will place a small ad on the cover page. Depending on where you are faxing your papers to, this may or may not matter to you.  There is usually a limit to the number of pages and/or faxes that you can send per day with these services. But if you send only a few faxes a year this may be the way to do it, if you don’t care about the small advertisement on the cover page.  With most of the free services they will send you an email stating that your fax was successful.
