Outdoor Kitchens

Outdoor kitchens are very popular for homeowners, and home buyers. If you are looking for a way to get a great return on your investments, then you may want to do some work on your patios and build yourself an outdoor kitchen. You not only will enjoy it, but you will also add value to your home. Outdoor kitchens are a great way to spend time together as a family, or host many patio parties for your friends and families.

What does an outdoor kitchen consist of? The main thing that you will want is a grill. If you entertain a lot you will want a grill with enough room to grill everything at once. You may even want a burner on your grill to keep sauces warm or to heat up coffee. Many of the upper model grills will have the side burner for just that purpose. Once you start grilling and have that side burner you will wonder how you grilled so long without it.

Gas Grill or Charcoal Grills

You will have to decide on whether you want a propane grill, or a charcoal grill, this is totally a personal choice for the owner. Some people love the difference taste that charcoal coals produce over the propane. You may be one of them. You may like the thrill of setting the coals on fire, and waiting for them to warm up, but then you may be like me, like to flip a switch and have heat.

Some advantages of a gas grill is that it heats up fast, you have a thermostat on it, so you can see how hot it is, and you can adjust the temperature. Usually they will have 2 cooking shelves on them so that you can double up on cooking foods. You can cook some foods hotter and the upper grill, won't be quite as hot.

With charcoal grills, you have to wait for them to heat up and the coals get hot. You not only have to replace the charcoal, but you will also have to purchase lighter fluid and get it started. If the charcoals got damp or wet, they won't start. But you can add wood chips to flavor the meats differently.

If you choose the charcoal grill – you may want to have an area close to the grill that is watertight and will hold your charcoal and keep it dry.

Other Things you May Want

Other things that you may want are a refrigerator, not a full-size one, but a dorm sized one to keep things chilled. You can keep the meat in there till you are ready to cook, and keep drinks cold. This is one great way to get prepared before your party and have everything that you need in one place when your guests are there, and will keep you from running in and out of the house.

Maybe you will want a cart beside your grill. You can have one that you can move around which make serving dinner easier and you can bring out everything you need in one trip. Maybe you will want to make a built in cabinet and storage outside so that you can keep your grilling utensils easily in reach. There are many options here that you can do.

Speakers for your music. You can build in weatherproof speakers outside so that music flows all around your patio.

You can decide that you want a built in outdoor kitchen and surround your cooking area with bricks or rocks and make it a permanent piece of your patio. That would be a great start to a cozy area on your patio and then once you add seating, and a patio table, and some lounge chairs everyone will feel welcomed in your patio while you’re in your outdoor kitchen grilling and entertaining. There is no better way to relax than to have an outdoor meal with friends and families. Backyard Patios are a great way to get closer to family members and friends and share precious moments with them.
