Save Energy with A Programmable Thermostat

When you are looking to save money by reducing your energy costs one great way to do that is to use a programmable thermostat. This is something that is easy to install and use, when you are not at home you can turn it down and save heating costs, then have it Set to heat your home back up prior to your arrival. It would also work about the same way in the summer and cooling your home while saving energy.

Some of the newest design features of the programmable thermostats are that you can use a remote control, they are some that are digital, and some you can program from your remote location and do it over the phone. These are all great features depending on your needs. The ones that you can program from telephone is great if you are on an extended outing and either forgot to set it or are going to be out longer than you expect.This is one way to save energy it will even work if you have solar power energy.

One instance would be if you want your home to be 70 degrees when you wake up in the m mornings at 7am, you would program it to 70 degrees at 7am. The thermostat would begin earlier to ensure that at 7am your house would be 70 degrees. It will automatically start the furnace or the air conditioner and get the temperature the correct temperature. This is done with a built in clock that will allow you to set the correct current time and then the times you want the temperature at certain degrees.


Usually the thermostats have 2 settings, one is for when you are not home and the other is when you are home and want to have the home warmer.  They will save energy when you are not at home. Some people do like the fact that during the days you are not wasting energy and running the furnace all day - but still come home to a warm house.


Some of the digital thermostat will have separate programs available for summer and winter usage, you can see what the temperature is on the faceplate and makes setting the thermostats easier.  Some of the newer models will even have a reminder built in so that you can change the air filter to save you even more energy.

Using a programmable thermostat will make your home more energy efficient and save you money on your utility bills. It is always nice to wake up to a warm house after sleeping in cooler temperatures during the night and making it more comfortable sleeping. You no longer have to wake up to a cold house each morning or come home to a hot house in the summer months. These are easy to install and user friendly.
