What Makes A Great Backyard Patio

Entertaining in your backyard patio is increasing in popularity. More and more families are getting together on the patio and enjoying time together and to host parties in the backyard. Some of the things that you may want to have in your backyard patio settings are an outdoor kitchen, a fire pit, a table, lounge chairs, umbrellas, and solar lights for times that you will be out there at night. Maybe your backyard already has a pool which will allow your guest to enjoy the pool area while visiting you. You may give many parties in the summer and love grilling in the backyard, if you do, then you will want a grill that can keep up with the demands. No matter what you want to do in your backyard, here are some items that you may want to consider adding.

The Fire Pit

Fire pits can be used for cooking and bonfires. They are very versatile and come in many different designs. You can burn wood, or have they worked with propane or natural gas. There are many different ways that you can use the fire pit.

With fire pit designs, you can have one that actually sits in the ground, which you can add a grill to the top to grill your foods on. It can be the focal point, and at nights, or after dinners, you can sit around it, and cook marshmallows if you want. This can be easily built over the weekend, or you can purchase one already made. The nice thing about the in ground ones is that you can build it from rocks, or bricks.

Fire pits can also be above ground, some may have a cook top that you can put pans on to cook. Some can be ceramic and can be a simple design that fits into the natural look of your back yard to sophisticated designs that will work even in upscale homes.

Grills

Grills can be portable, built in, and come in many different styles and sizes. If you have a small patio or deck, you may want to purchase a portable grill for that reason. You may have laws that say that you can't have open fire, if that is the case, you can get an electric grill so that you can grill outside. Whether you like charcoal grills, or gas grills there is a grill that will be perfect for you.

If you entertain a lot you may want to make the grill the focal point of your outdoor kitchen. You may want to get a bigger grill with lots of space to cook, and have it built in for you. Then you would have counter space, and maybe even an outdoor refrigerator. This certainly is one way to go, and may make sense for you to do that.

Grills can be stationary and not built in so that you can still move it around the patio if you need to.

Charcoal grills can be used to grill dinners; you will have to replenish the charcoal, and where as gas grills you will have to replace the used propane. Either way it's a preference to which one you will want to get in your backyard patio.

The Patio Umbrella

If you don't have a roof over your patio but want to spend time outside, you may want to invest in a patio umbrella. These can be free standing and placed anywhere on your patio that you want to have a seating area. The other type of patio umbrella is one that sits in the middle of a patio table.

You will want to measure the area that you want to shade with your patio umbrella so that you get the right size umbrella. You may also want to get one that can tilt which makes it movable to keep your seating area shaded.

A Porch Swing

The summer nights can't be complete without a porch swing. These can be set up on the back porch or patio, or you can purchase an A-Frame for it and have it set up in the middle of your backyard. These A-frames can have canopies and make a great place for those family gatherings.

Patio Furniture

Patio furniture can be simple, you can have some chairs, a lounger and a table and chair and still have a nice set up with places for family to sit and relax.

Hammocks

Hammocks are great way to have a snooze in the afternoon on a hot day. They are comfortable, and very relaxing. If you don't have 2 trees to hang your hammock, you can get a frame to set up your hammock in your backyard, or even have it on your patio with the frame for the hammocks.

Pool

Pools can be small for just the kids to above ground pools that adults can enjoy it also. There is a lot of work involved with the pools but then pools are a great way to cool off during the hot summer days.

In ground pools are the most expensive, but they will last longer than above-ground pools. If you have an in ground pool you will want to make sure that it meets safety requirements for your area. You don't want something that you got for enjoyment to be dangerous to your kids, or neighborhood kids. You may have to add a pool fence to keep people protected from your pool. Check with your local authorities before you install your pool to make sure it meets all the requirements.

Solar lights

Backyard solar lights or landscaping solar lights are great to have. They will not only make it safer in the backyard at nights, it won't use any electric.

Solar lights are easy to hook up. Most you simply stick in the ground where you want them. There are no wires to go from one light to another, and you don't have to worry about running electrical lines. They work from the sunlight charging the batteries in the day, and then the lights automatically come on at night.

Solar landscaping lights are now cheap enough that you can have quite a few set up in your backyard or on your patio so that they will give off enough light at nights that it will make it a great addition to your backyard patio.
